Armed for Apocalypse is a bleak, heavy-hitting sludge and post-metal band originally formed in Chico, California, and now based in Portland, Oregon. Known for their devastating, low-tuned riffs and extreme volume, they've released four full-length albums, including their critically acclaimed 2026 record, The Earth Is Breathing Beneath Me.
The band was initially founded in the late 2000s by Kirk Williams, Cayle Hunter, Corey Vaspra, and Nick Harris. Over the years, their lineup has evolved, featuring a rotating roster of seasoned musicians who draw from earlier projects like Will Haven and Ghostride. Describing their own sound as "rock 'n' roll music tuned way down and pissed way off," they perfectly balance crushing mid-tempo mosh pits with slow, sprawling, and sometimes meditative post-metal atmospheres.
